I am not going to take a lot of time talking about the press conference today. President Obama addressed the chatter very presidential-like and really made the "birthers" look like silly playground bullies! Enough is enough. Like President Obama said, "It is time for this kind of silliness to end. We have BIG Problems to solve. We live at a serious time. America will come out on top, but we have to be serious to do so!"

We must stop spending time on frivolous things and get back to what really matters. Our children are watching and to tell you the truth, they don't feel very confident in the adults running this nation. The 2012 election is right around the corner. It is time to talk about the issues and what is really going on.

Who is responsible for the high gas prices? Who in Congress has been an advocate for Big Oil? Call them out and make them famous Mr. John McCain. Be of your word!!! The president said we went into Libya because of the atrocities that their leader was allegedly going to do. If that is so, let's talk about Congo, Sudan, South Side of Chicago, NE and SE DC, East Cleveland, Ohio and the list goes on and on and on!

Food prices are extremely high, so that means that many are going without eating. Is there enough in the White House garden to feed the hungry children of the DMV? Any local farmers willing to feed our hungry families living in the District of Columbia?

If they build another road.... Many of the children in the nation's capital haven't even drove on these roads, so it really doesn't impact them. We need clearer/transparent solutions to solve today's growing problems here at home. CONGRESS must take time to listen, but they won't if we don't demand that they do so. What will it take?

We have real problems and we can no longer waist time talking about what doesn't matter and has no basis. What a waste of time. We must demand MORE from Congress. We also, must be willing to speak truth to the Powers that be. ARE YOU IN?

Will we allow CONGRESS to continue to distract us? It takes more than the president to pass a bill or make a change. If CONGRESS isn't working, President Obama can't work for the American people - YOU!! Let's get Congress working and hold each one of them accountable for what we need for America to be on top! May God Bless America!

Hints about the wedding last summer embarrassed news agencies when it didn’t happen. It is now set for July 31, 2010. Published accounts were also wrong about the dress. It will be a Vera Wang creation, not Oscar de la Renta as widely reported. And the location will not be at Martha's Vineyard but deep on the grounds of a Clinton supporter a few hours north of New York City. All of these efforts may not be enough to sufficiently dampen public interest. The Jenna Bush wedding took place during a low ebb in the popularity of President Bush and at a time when the war on terror counseled as little publicity as possible. Jenna was married at the Bush family, Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, a rather remote location. Still, this is a polarizing presidential family, whose star is now more clearly visible in the historic firmament. With the Clinton's we experienced a roller coaster of emotions in public life. Some pundits predicted that it would be hard for Chelsea Clinton to ever trust a man or ever get married. So this wedding ceremony is a milestone that marks a marriage that has endured, a presidency that grows fonder by absence and a child who landed on her feet in spite of the odds. The media and public may demand to know more and celebrate it with more fanfare than Chelsea, the so called Garbo of presidential children, would like. Live Feed of Oil Leek in the Gulf

The early estimates that BP and NOAA stood by that only 5k barrels were being leaked per day is not acccurate. One can see with their own eyes that more than 210,000 gallons of oil is flowing at full force daily.

This is beyond a leak. Today President Obama will address this crisis and hold BP accountable - I hope. Stay tuned and watch at 12;45.

HEALTHCARE REFORM Live FEB 25TH!

President Obama while being interviewed by CBS News anchor Katie Couric hours before the network televised the Super Bowl. Obama challenged Republicans to bring their ideas to the table for the Feb. 25th televised open forum to cover more Americans and fix the health insurance system to the public discussion. This is another move to have bipartisan support for the Healthcare bill and for the American people to see what is holding up this much needed change.

President Obama said, "I want to consult closely with our Republican colleagues," Obama said. "What I want to do is to ask them to put their ideas on the table. . . . I want to come back and have a large meeting, Republicans and Democrats, to go through, systematically, all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward."

The American people deserve to have members of the House and Senate that represent them and are really focused on moving America forward. It is like we are on pause and I am sure that no one in America wants to feel stuck and unproductive.The Democrats seem to becoming unglued and unaware that they hold a majority. This live televised forum will allow the American people to make a choice, since Congress wants to act like Healthcare for our nation is not important. Heck they have insurance so why should they care?

We will all see if this process is effective and begins to have a workable conversation between the parties so that we can get back on track and focus on keeping this nation safe and healthy. It is possible, but it is going to take true visibility so that the American people can be involved in the healthcare reform bill. So, let's see what the GOP has to offer and then let's start building to have a healthier America!

Did you get a chance to see Sarah Palin's Fox debut last night? I don't think I have ever seen O'Reilly actually listen to anyone on his show. You can tell that he is Pro Palin and that the interview isn't fair or balanced. Palin kept stating that President Obama hasn't kept any promises and that he doesn't have a bipartisan approach. She was very condescending about Senate members volunteering their time with children/students. Palin feels Harry Reid thinking is foreign to most Americans. She can make that evaluation about Reid because she comes from a very diverse background (Alaska). She also decided to share that she doesn't think that Trent Lott is a racist either. Compared apples to oranges basically.

Palin says that President Obama should put financial sanctions on Iran and that there hasn't been any change only for the worst. She wouldn't say that we should attack Iran, but feels we should use it as the last option. She feels the president should convince Americans that they are willing to do anything to protect our allies: Israel. Fox can't be serious.... This is really going to make it easy for the GOP to continue sliding down the popularity poll and convincing most Americans they are not really thinking about what is best for America.

Afghanistan Bound While The Hood Waits and Waits...

Heard President Obama's speech on Afghanistan and why he has made the decision to send 30000 additional troops to that region to fight both the Taliban and Al Qaeda. WOW! Imagine what 300000 troops could do for our border. Imagine what 300000 troops could do for many of our urban streets to encourage our own nation building. Maybe protect our children so that they can go to school, play on the playground or make it to and from the corner store alive and with their purchase. See the oil in these areas impact the US Economy and we have a financial stake in Afghanistan. We have to keep Pakistan safe/secure since they do hold nuclear weapons, but the reality is our hood nation is dying while we are over in the Middle East "nation building".

I know it wasn't an easy decision for President Obama. It really is not aligned with the promises he made and I pushed during his campaign. I know what he reads and sees in front of him is a lot different than what I get as a citizen. Therefore I have to pause and understand that if I trusted him to be our president, than I have to trust that he is making the best decision with the information he has in front of him. He is passionate about the US and wants us to be safe, so I will stand and support him even though I don't understand why Afghanistan's nation building is more important than building our own nation here in the United States of America. I guess the hood can wait, but I doubt if the hood will be silence. How many more will we loose in Chicago? How many more will we lose in East Cleveland? How many more will we lose in East LA? How many more will we lose in St. Louis? How many more will we lose in Detroit? How many more will we lose in Miami? How many more will we lose in DC? How many more will we lose in NYC? How many more will we lose in Baltimore? How many more will we lose in New Orleans? How many more will we lose in Oakcliff? How many more will we lose in Brownsville? How many more will we lose?

President Obama's first 10 months in office

I have heard soooo many people complaining about President Obama. I have heard how they do not feel like he is doing anything in office as The President of United States of America. I have heard that they can't tangibly feel any of his policies. I have argued countless times that it takes more that 10 months to really make an impact. Our economy was bad prior to Obama coming in office, we were already at war Iraq and Afghanistan before Obama was in office and that the country was more divided too prior to Obama coming in office. I will continue to be a stand for the man that I worked to elect the president. Here is a list of some of President Obama's accomplishments over the past 10 months he has been in office (not a year yet).

In just ten short months, President Obama has:

Requested $15 billion in increased funding for the Veterans Administration over 30 years -- the largest increase in history

Signed into law the "VA Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act" which will provide the VA with advance funding-the #1 legislative priority of almost every Veterans Service Organization

Provided $1.4 billion in additional funding to the VA under the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act" that is going directly to improving VA hospitals and clinics around the nation

Expanded VA-healthcare enrollment opportunities for more than 250,000 previously excluded Veterans, and continue to raise this number towards a goal of 500,000.
Launched a major Veterans Employment Initiative that is designed to make the federal government into the model employer of America's veterans.

I am humbled to be one of millions of courageous Americans who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting our democracy. While there is much left to be done, under President Obama's leadership we have made historic progress towards fulfilling our commitment these patriotic men and women.

Happy Veteran's Day to our troops, men & women who have served in the past and their families. I hope you will take a moment today stand with those who served our nation by getting involved with one of the following organizations: USO, Fisher House, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

Vote! It Is Your Right

As we reflect on the historic election of Barack Obama, it is also time to think about the events of yesterday's elections. Although it wasn't the BIG Presidential Election, it is still a moment that shapes the next year ahead for all Americans. What I noticed living in Washington, DC is that we have a lot of loud mouthed registered voters that did not make it to the polls. These same loud mouths will be the constant complainers for the next 365 days when they had an opportunity to make a change. What good is it to work so hard last year to get things done in Washington, if you sit complacent to all other elections. All votes are needed to shape this nation to the vision that the majority of us declared we wanted in November 2008. I read that less than 30% of the registered voters in Virginia actually voted. That is a shame. I also read that many of the newly registered voters that voted for Obama did not vote. Sad. What are we going to do about this? What can we do going forward to get folk out to vote. I am not concerned so much about who you vote for, I just want every voting capable citizen and especially registered voter to VOTE!
